Buy these homes with 2 friends and $10K down each

Don’t think real estate is in reach for you? I felt the exact same way. I live in San Francisco, grew up in San Diego, and went to college in Santa Barbara. Not exactly the most affordable places in the US. Needless to say I never thought I’d be able to save up a big enough down payment to buy a home, especially in CA.

Thankfully, I had two friends who were game to go in on a home for a touch under $5K each ($6.7K including closing costs) in the California desert. With the power of co-buying in hand and some prudent poking around, we found a home on one of our favorite golf courses (Rams Hill) for $265K! It might not be a multi-million dollar home on the California coast, but it got me into the real estate game at 37 years old. Had I known this was an option, I would have done this 10 years ago.

I’m sharing this “Ah-Ha” experience with other people that feel like real estate is out of reach as well to let them know it isn’t. With two friends and $10K each for a down payment, there are a ton of opportunities across the US for people to take advantage of… even if it’s not your primary home.
